AN ATTITUDE

Saturday, March 6, 2021
7:00 p.m.

BRIDGE VIEW CENTER
(GET DIRECTIONS)
Dr. William LaRue Jones
    Conductor/ Music Director

Event subject to change
While Covid-19 has placed full orchestra concerts on hold, the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra is excited to present a series of ensembles by orchestra members on Saturday, March 6 at Bridge View Center at 7:00 PM.  “An Attitude of Gratitude” was selected for the title as our musicians are eager to perform for our dedicated patrons and friends again, and we are pleased to offer this concert in a secure environment.
Musicians participating are regular members of the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra, including Conductor and Music Director William LaRue Jones and Concertmaster Nancy Gaub. John Deere Ottumwa Works is sponsoring this event, in support of performances that can be safely enjoyed amid this covid crisis.
Ensembles allow for greater social distancing between musicians, while masks and social distancing will be practiced throughout the Bridge View Center Auditorium for those choosing to attend in person.  Those who prefer may choose a ‘concert on their couch’, as it will be live streamed via Facebook as well.
The following ensembles will be performing:
  • A Trombone Quartet composed of Norman Brooks, Jay Hauenstein, Doug McBride and Mark Shearer will be performing “Achieved is the Glorious Work” by Bach, “On the Great Getting’ Up Day” arranged by Norman Brooks, and “Stars & Stripes Forever” by Sousa.
  • Sonata in C Minor, Mvt. 1 by Beethoven will be performed by OSO Concertmaster Nancy Gaub on violin, and her husband Gene Gaub on piano.
  • “Ashokan Farewell” by Unger, arranged by Tom Shadonix  will be performed by featured soloist Tom Shadonix on violin, and the Chamber Strings to include Nancy Gaub, Patty Babb, Angie Hoover, Jennifer Watters, Diana Davolt, Joan Peterson, Mike Potts, Kassi Speer, Donavan Newland, Steve Miller, Donna Nelson, Henry Weberpal, Nicole Peyton, Olivia Palen, Brian Quinn, and Lydia Swarney.
