Sizzling Strings will be the focus for the March 5 concert, with an emphasis on young strings. Members of the Ottumwa High School Orchestra will be seated side-by-side with the OSO as we highlight and celebrate our support of school string programs. Performing with the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. William LaRue Jones, these young musicians will augment their side-by-side experience with the chance to accompany cellist Henry Weberpal (their high school orchestra director) on his performance of “Lament”. Mr. Weberpal is the composer and soloist for this piece, and a regular member of our cello section. Admission for this concert, held at Indian Hills Community College, is by season ticket or can be purchased on line or at the door for $25. Students are admitted free with student ID.
Why not prolong your evening with an Afterglow hosted by Alex and Patricia Morley? Their spacious home at 514 East Alta Vista is located close to the campus, so making your way there after the concert is easy. Enjoy great company, get to know some Ottumwa Symphony musicians, staff and board members. Alex is a 25 Men Who Can Cook prize winner, and has promised snacks and beverages in line with that trophy! Again, your $20 tickets will be available on line or reservations can be made by calling 816-519-1217, and you will want to reserve soon! The Afterglow tickets are not included in the Season Ticket. |
