BIOGRAPHY
Tom Shadonix is from Ottumwa and plays in both The Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra and The Fort Dodge Area Symphony. In addition to performing in local bands "Those Guys?" and "Heiland Storm" he teaches lessons at Indian Hills Community College and has a private teaching practice and plays organ at First Lutheran Church. He obtained his undergraduate degrees in organ performance and composition from the University of Northern Iowa, and Master's Degrees in Organ Perfomance, Church Music and Liturgy and Composition from Drake University. He has post graduate hours in Choral and Orchestral Conducting from Westminster Choir College. His teachers have included Marilou Kratzenstein, Carl Staplin, and Naomi Rowley in organ, Jeremy Beck, Jon Schwabe, Lathon Jernigan and William Daugherty in composition, Carl Staplin and David Harris in church music and liturgy, and Misha Rosenker in strings.
Tom and his wife Denise reside in Ottumwa and have a string shop, East Court Strings. They have survived the rearing of numerous children. |
